A hybrid fitness model is emerging
A new model is emerging for both operators of fitness facilities and consumers.
With mask mandates lifting, folks are going back to the gym. Various sources indicate that business is up from any point in 2020/21.
Has the love affair with home workouts stopped?
Not entirely, but certainly the push for outfitting the home workout space has declined from its peak in 2020.
Exercisers are re-engaging with the concept of working out with a group.
The hybrid fitness model taps into both the gym and home workouts as part of an individual’s routine.
Basic Fit, an organization with over 1000 gyms in Europe is one of many now offering a “Train Anywhere” membership. This offers equipment for home, programming for workouts outside the gyms, and of course access to the gyms.
We are also seeing corporations change to a different model, where they are incentivizing employees to outfit their home gym instead of offering fitness onsite. With more and more employees working from home, this is an evolved offering.
Hotels are re-visiting the concept of fitness within rooms. This gained some momentum prior to the pandemic, and certainly has more steam now.
The hybrid model is starting to be embraced by consumers and operators alike. It is a growing trend coming out of the pandemic. It is a change to the business model for many who are offering, and for the consumer who now gets the best of both worlds.
It also positions vendors who can offer both options with multiple advantages for the organization.
